What exactly does Berta do?

Berta bundles everything to do with your car in one place. Instead of collecting receipts in a folder, you photograph them – and Berta takes over the data. From your registration, the app reads out make, model, year, country, plate, VIN, engine, first registration, body type and color. You review the suggestions and confirm them before anything is saved.

How do I get started?

Onboarding takes you to your first car in four steps. First you pick the language – German or English. Then you make the AI consent decision: it determines whether Berta may read your documents automatically. Without consent, capture still works; you just type the fields yourself. Next you add your first car by photographing the registration or manually. For the country there are quick choices like DE, AT, CH and GB; any ISO country is accepted.

How do I capture receipts day to day?

You have three routes: photo, file import or voice. Berta downscales photos to 1600 px width before upload to save data volume. File import accepts PDF, JPEG, PNG, HEIC/HEIF and WebP – one file per import, multi-page PDFs become one scan. For fill-ups you can also speak the liters and price.

If you're offline on the go, your captures wait safely in the queue and are re-sent automatically once you're back online – without duplicates. Fields Berta recognizes with low confidence (below 80%) are highlighted for review. You always confirm before anything lands in your record.

Does Berta remind me about the inspection?

Yes. Berta knows your country's inspection intervals (as of 2026): in Germany the first HU is due 36 months after first registration, then every 24 months; Austria uses the 3-2-1 rule, and the UK MOT is due after 3 years, then annually. Berta calculates the first date automatically from first registration and registration country. Besides the inspection, Berta also reminds you about service intervals, tire swaps and custom dates.

How does Berta keep an eye on my tires and costs?

Besides documents and fill-ups, Berta also manages your tires and costs. Per tire set you record season (summer, winter or all-season), size, brand, DOT code and status; a sidewall scan reads size, brand and DOT straight off the tire. The tread-depth estimate from the photo is deliberately rough and always reviewed by you, and the scan photos are not stored permanently.

The costs tab brings the breakdowns together: monthly cost bars, average consumption in l/100 km, cost per km, monthly fuel cost and total costs. You capture regular expenses like insurance or road tax as a cost event with a category, billing period and optional recurrence. Berta works in EUR, CHF or USD and shows consumption in metric or imperial.

What's in it for me at resale?

At resale, the well-kept record pays off: with one tap Berta generates an A4 resale PDF with a vehicle summary, odometer chart, fuel and tire data, service history, up to six document thumbnails and an optional cost overview – in German or English. So you present buyers a gap-free history, instead of hunting down loose receipts.

What about my data?

You stay in control: you toggle AI consent any time in settings, you export your data from the app, and you delete your account yourself – completely and irreversibly.
