The app for your car

Full service history. Without the folder.

Photograph a receipt – Berta files it, keeps servicing and inspection dates in view, and turns the lot into proof when you sell.

Other apps keep a list. Berta reads your receipts, answers questions about them, and produces your mileage log and a sale-ready history.

Berta app home screen: vehicle card with an AI illustration of the estate, odometer reading and the next reminder due

From paper receipt to vehicle record in three steps

This is what using Berta actually looks like – real screens from the app. And when there is no receipt to photograph, you add the entry by hand.

  1. Berta app scan screen with the document type picker and the take-photo button

    Step 1

    Photograph the receipt

Snap a garage invoice, fuel receipt or your odometer – or import a PDF. Berta works out what kind of document it is.

  2. Berta app check-and-confirm screen: date, odometer, garage and total were read automatically from the workshop invoice

    Step 2

    Give it a quick check

Date, odometer, garage, total and line items are already filled in – as a suggestion. Fields read with low confidence are flagged, so you only fix what needs fixing. Nothing goes into your records until you confirm it.

  3. Berta app timeline with fuel and service entries showing date, odometer and amount

    Step 3

    It lands in the history

The entry appears in the vehicle timeline, updates costs and consumption, and resets the matching reminder.

Everything about your vehicle in one place

Berta app check-and-confirm screen: date, odometer, garage and total were read automatically from the workshop invoice

Photograph receipts instead of typing them

Capture a fuel receipt, garage invoice, registration document or PDF – the AI suggests the date, amount, odometer reading and line items. Fields it is unsure about are flagged, and a scan is only stored once you confirm it. With no receipt to hand – or for jobs you did yourself – you type the entry by hand. Contracts and policies sit searchable in the document vault.

Documentation
Ask Berta screen in the Berta app: the question about servicing spend over the last twelve months, and below it Berta’s answer listing each garage visit, the total and links to the underlying receipts

Ask Berta – answers from your own records

"When was the last oil change?", "What has this vehicle cost me this year?" – type it or speak it. Berta answers from the entries you have saved and links back to the receipt the answer came from. Photograph a warning light you do not recognise and have it explained.

Documentation
Trip logbook in the Berta app showing the yearly split into business, private and commute kilometres, the button for the yearly PDF and the most recently logged trips

A trip logbook for the tax office

Log every trip as business, commute or private – with odometer readings, destination, client and purpose. Berta works out the yearly split, points out kilometres your trips do not account for, and produces a PDF for the year. Trips are fixed 24 hours after the trip date; corrections and withdrawals stay visible, and a verification value in the PDF shows the internal chain of entries is unbroken.

Documentation
Berta app reminders with due dates for the seasonal wheel swap, MOT and oil service

Inspections, services and tires on your radar

From the first registration Berta works out the next inspection – German HU/TÜV, Austrian §57a "Pickerl", Swiss MFK and UK MOT. Plus service intervals by date or mileage, seasonal wheel swaps, expiring documents and maintenance suggestions you can accept. Summer and winter sets with size, DOT code and tread depth are managed alongside.

Documentation
Berta app cost overview with total cost of ownership, monthly bars and recurring costs

Fuel, charging and what the vehicle really costs

Consumption in l/100 km, cost per kilometre and monthly overviews – from fuel receipts, charging sessions, insurance, tax and garage bills, whether it is a car, motorcycle or camper. In Germany, Berta also shows fuel prices nearby, and at the turn of the year you get a review of your vehicle year. For EVs it reminds you about the German THG bonus and books the payout as a credit.

Documentation
Berta app export screen for generating the service-history PDF used when selling

Selling and handing the vehicle over

When you sell, the history sells the vehicle: one tap produces a PDF with service records, odometer timeline and receipts. When the vehicle changes hands, you pass the whole record to the new owner with a code. A garage holds up to 2 vehicles – cars, motorcycles or campers – for each one Berta draws an illustration from your photo in the background; if that does not work out, your photo simply stays.

Radko Albrecht standing beside his dark blue BMW E46 convertible on the coast

The person behind Berta

Berta started with one car: a 2002 BMW E46 convertible that Radko Albrecht has kept on the road for years.

Its garage invoices lived in the glovebox, the inspection dates somewhere in an email inbox, and every workshop appointment began with a hunt through both.

So he built himself a small tool that keeps all of it in one place – and it quickly turned out that everyone whose car is more than a few years old has exactly the same problem.

Radko also runs Bitbond (opens in a new window), a Berlin software company he founded in 2013 and still leads today.

Frequently asked questions

What is Berta?
Berta is a free app for iOS and Android that keeps everything about your car, motorcycle or camper in one place: photograph receipts and have the data extracted, ask questions about your own vehicle, keep a trip logbook, get inspection and service reminders, track costs, and generate a service-history PDF when you sell.
Do I have to type in my receipts?
Usually not. You photograph the receipt or import a PDF, and Berta suggests the date, amount, odometer and other fields. Fields the recognition is unsure about are flagged, and you check and correct them before anything is saved. Without a photo – or without AI consent – you simply add entries by hand.
Can I ask Berta questions about my vehicle?
Yes. Ask Berta answers questions about your specific vehicle, typed or spoken into the microphone. The answer comes from the entries and documents you have saved and links to the receipt it came from. A free account includes 10 questions a month, and like every AI feature it needs your consent.
Can I keep a trip logbook with Berta?
Yes. You log each trip with its date, odometer readings, destination, purpose and category (business, commute, private); Berta works out the yearly split, points out kilometres no trip accounts for, and generates a PDF for the year. Trips stay editable for 24 hours after the trip date and are fixed afterwards; corrections and withdrawals stay visible in the record, and a verification value shows the internal chain of entries is unbroken. Whether a logbook is accepted is ultimately the tax office’s decision – Berta is not tax advice.
When is my vehicle due for inspection?
In Germany, a new car needs its first HU (TÜV) inspection after 36 months and then every 24 months (as of 2026). Motorcycles, campers and other countries can follow different intervals – see the reminders section for details. In the UK, the first MOT is due after 3 years, then annually. Berta calculates the right date from the first registration and country, and reminds you in time.
Does Berta work outside Germany?
Yes. Berta supports the German HU, the Austrian §57a inspection ("Pickerl", 3-2-1 rule), the Swiss MFK (first after 5 years, then after 3, then every 2 years) and the UK MOT, and adapts reminders to the country your vehicle is registered in. Other countries use a general schedule: first inspection after 36 months, annually after that.
What happens to my data?
Your data stays yours: AI processing of photos only happens with your explicit consent, you can export your data, and you can delete your account with all data at any time.
How much does Berta cost?
Berta is free for iOS and Android. The free plan covers up to 2 vehicles, 50 scans in your first month and 15 every month after that – every successful referral adds permanent extra scans and questions that never expire. Berta Pro gives you up to 10 vehicles plus unlimited scans and Ask Berta questions (5 GB uploads/month) – for €4,99/month or €39,99/year.
